Billboard Creates US Chart For Afrobeats Ditching Reggae Chart Two years after Billboard discontinued its Reggae Digital Song Sales chart, the magazine announced that it has joined forces with the music festival and global Afrobeats brand Afro Nation to launch the first-ever US chart for Afrobeats Songs. The announcement appears to herald the impending reign of African music, which many have contended is taking the space of Dancehall music.   In January 2020, Billboard ditched the weekly Reggae Digital Song Sales chart that ranked the top-downloaded and streamed Reggae and Dancehall songs in the US.  The Reggae Albums chart continues to be published weekly. Mariah Carey & DJ Khaled to Join Latto on ‘Big Energy’ Remix Latto is adding that real “Big Energy” to her 2021 breakout hit with an upcoming remix featuring Mariah Carey and DJ Khaled.  The rapper revealed that the new take on “Big Energy” is set to drop on Monday (Mar. 28). The announcement comes following a not so subtle Twitter exchange between Latto and Carey, in which the duo hinted at a collaboration through clever emojis. The song, released via StreamCut/RCA Records in September, hit No. 14 on the latest Billboard Hot 100, marking the 23-year-old Atlanta native’s first top 40 hit. Renewed Oval and Sistas on BET The two dramas are set to resume production in the spring at the mega-producer's Atlanta studio. BET will extend its Tyler Perry series Sistas and The Oval for another season. The Paramount Global-owned cable network has picked up the two dramas for new seasons. With production on both slated to resume later this spring at Perry’s Atlanta studios. The renewal will take Sistas through its fifth season and The Oval through its fourth. The pickups come just ahead of The Oval’s third season finale on Tuesday night. Sistas concluded the first half of season four on March 16; it’s set to return on June 29. Abbott Elementary Partners With Scholastic to Provide Free Book Fairs at Underfunded Schools Attached to its hit freshman sitcom “Abott Elementary,” ABC has partnered with Scholastic. Becoming the first entertainment brand to provide underfunded schools with free book fairs. The book fairs take place at seven Title 1 schools between March 14 and 18. Each student will receive two free books and each teacher will receive 10. Participating schools include Philadelphia’s Harrity Elementary, which “Abbott Elementary” is based on.
